I’ve been enjoying everyone’s Christmas letters and pictures. They are so lovely. I am sorry to say this is all you are getting from us this year.
We started of 2009 with the trip of a lifetime to Israel. We are so glad that we took the time to go on this trip, seeing the places where Jesus walked and gaining a deeper understanding of the Bible and our faith. We took the trip with D’s seminary. As of last week, D is about half-way through his seminary education. This past semester was especially intense with three classes (one of those being Greek) and working full-time. And with all that on his plate, D managed to run the Detroit marathon. He has the energy level of a four-year old. I continued my work at a pregnancy care center, walked the half-marathon with some friends and watched a lot of Hulu while D studied.
Much of 2009 has been spent preparing for 2010 as we began the process in March to become foster parents. The past nine months have included training, home studies, projects on our house and getting a room ready for a child/children. We are anticipating a phone call sometime in the upcoming weeks and we could not be more excited. We are sure 2010 is going to be a big year for our family.
Our friends T & W of Foster Parenting Podcast have asked us to start contributing to the show as we begin our first placement. So, without further ado, here is our debut episode. (You can also find the podcast on iTunes).
