The year started out busy with a trip to Bair Lake Bible Camp with the junior high youth group. It was freezing but the kids had a great time. For most of them, it was the first time on any type of retreat. This spring, I finally finished up my master’s degree at Oakland University. I am glad to be done but sort of miss being in the classroom. In June, we welcomed our second niece, Willow, into the world. She is a doll. We were lucky enough to go out to Pasadena and meet her when she was only a few weeks old. We had a great time visiting the family. Right after we returned, we headed out for Summer Camp with both the junior high and senior high youth groups. They had a great time and we were able to see evidence of God’s work in their lives. In August, we celebrated year two of marriage. With me out of school, we decided it was D’s turn and he enrolled at Michigan Theological Seminary where he is studying for his Masters of Theological Studies. Although it is a lot of work, Dan really seems to be enjoying it. In the fall, D was able to speak on a couple of retreats for other youth groups. In November, we went to South Carolina for the Together for Adoption Conference where we reaffirmed our passion for orphan care and adoption. Soon after we returned, I was able to visit Jeff in Colorado as well as attend a conference for Care Net.
Our lives are busy but we both love what we do and the ministries that God has chosen for us. We are starting 2009 out with a trip to Israel (D’s dream vacation). We are thankful for all we have been blessed with and anticipate great things to come in 2009.
